Alfagomma

Founded in 1956 by Italian businessman Felice Gennasio, Alfagomma S.p.A. has gone from strength to strength over the last 45 years to establish itself as a world leader in the design, manufacture and distribution of flexible rubber hoses. Alfagomma's technological know-how coupled with its entrepreneurial flair have enabled the group to expand its operations to 50 countries around the world. This remarkable growth has been driven by technological research and innovation- a philosophy that has spawned a host of new products.

A crucial turning point for the group came at the end of the 1960's when Felice Gennasio decided to invest heavily in research, shifting the group's production base from general rubber goods to the specialised manufacture of flexible rubber hoses. This decision required swift and sweeping reorganisation, as well as plant conversion, but it set the group on a global growth path that it is still following today.

One of the first steps along this path came in 1972 with the creation of Alfagomma Sud S.p.A., a new production plant for the manufacture of industrial hoses at Teramo. Three years later, Hydraulic Hose South S.p.A. started production of specialised high-pressure hydraulic hoses at a nearby plant.

A second high pressure hydraulic hose plant, Tubi Gomma Tirrena S.p.A., opened at Cosenza in 1977.

In 1991, the group took another important step, starting up operations in Malaysia with Alfagomma Mardec Sdn Bhd, its third high pressure hydraulic hose plant. With the acquisition of French company CICMP in 1991, a specialist manufacturer of hydraulic and industrial hose fittings and hose assemblies, the group attained its goal of being able to provide customers with not only individual products but to offer system solutions to meet customer requirements however complex.

In keeping with its philosophy of pursuing innovation, the group added Alfagomma Industrial S.p.A., in 1992, a plant at Teramo which focuses on the research, design and manufacture of dynamically vulcanised thermoplastic rubber compounds and production of thermoplastic industrial hoses.

In 2002 Alfagomma Technology opened a new production plant (fittings, adapters and assembled hose) in Cosenza. In the same year Alfagomma America Inc. was established in Burlington, Iowa (USA), in order to supply the American market with the assembled hose. In 2003 The Group added new strength to the industrial division with Alfagomma Slovakia and its Bratislava-based industrial hose production facility.

With production capacity vastly increased, Alfagomma set out to establish commercial distribution companies throughout the major world markets, constantly updating its range of products and evolving new problem-solving industrial systems.

Alfagomma produces a range of hydraulic hoses, couplings and fittings for use with a number of applications and industries including compressed air hoses, steam, fuel and oil, material handling hoses. They are well known for their range of flexible hydraulic hoses that include textile, braid, steel wire braid and steel wire reinforced flexible hoses.
